Xinran in conversation with Gladys Nieto

Extract: women's stories

On Friday 13 June to 19:00, the Ivan de Vargas Library will host a unique dialogue: the anthropologist and professor of Asian Studies at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Gladys Nieto, will talk with the Chinese writer Xinran, on the occasion of the publication in Spanish of his book The silenced voices (Editorial Amok).

It will be an occasion to follow the thread of a life dedicated to listening. Xinran began her career as a broadcaster in China in the 1980s., at a time when talking was, sometimes, a form of resistance. Since then, has collected the stories of many women who were left out of the story.

From the Confucius Institute of Madrid, We have invited associations of families with daughters adopted in China, with the hope that this meeting can also open a space for conversation for them. Xinran, deeply sensitive to this reality, has expressed his desire to answer your questions.
